The Nursing Department will coordinate; monitor, and implement health care services for persons who reside at The Northern Virginia Training Center in accordance with regulatory agencies. Nursing Services supports building partnerships, supporting choices to help people with intellectual disabilities live life. The Nursing department strives to provide nursing care within the scope of Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Nursing and the Nurse Practice Act. To fully support the individuals who live at NVTC, this position has been designated as essential to NVTC operations. Administrative expert for the department of Nursing. Responsible for making decisions, taking appropriate action independently to ensure established guidelines of care, written policies and procedures are implemented by the nursing staff as assigned. Act as liaison between the Chief Nurse Executive and Nursing Supervisors. Staffing and Scheduling coordinator of Nursing Services work schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalency with additional office management skills or education. Progressive administrative/secretarial and supervisory experience. Extensive knowledge of administrative principles and working knowledge of supervision and administration practices. Ability to coordinate changes as an integral part of a management team. Considerable organizational and leadership skills, ability to communicate with individuals, nurses, ancillary and other administrative staff, families and others to establish and maintain confidence and cooperation and resolution of programmatic issues. Ability to perform physical requirements related to duties of the position.

Professional expertise of office practices and procedures; in software applications i.e., Microsoft word, excel and access databases operation of personal computers. Independent judgment skills in working with all levels of professionals; ability to maintain confidentiality at all times; problem solving and decision-making. Skill in prioritizing responsibilities and ability to adapt to flexible work schedule and frequent interruptions. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
