Unviersity of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a Part-Time Data Collector to help support the Department of Ortheopedic Surgery, Shadyside office. This position will be working 16 hours per week and will be based in Shadyside. This position will work 16 hours per week, various days, shifts Monday through Friday. This is a grant funded position, and grant will run through September 2013.
The person in this position collects data on patients and provides these data sheets to attending physicians and residents for use on rounds. Incumbent collects specific information from several sources within the hospital electronic record. Information is then entered into a database, used for quality improvement, research, publication and review for national trends.
Retrieve, compile and transcribe accurate, complete data on liver transplant patients.
Take reports in the morning and afternoon to liver transplant units for use by physicians.
Review patient records on the units in order to update logs for afternoon rounds.
Review the electronic health files on transplant ICU patients to update logs for afternoon.
Enter information on a national database for use in research and publications.
High school Diploma or equivalent.
Must have 3-5 years experience working in a health/teaching facility.
Knowledge of medical terminology required with thorough understanding of medical diagnoses, laboratory tests, and what is pertinent to report.
Must have 100% accuracy on data collection and data entry and able to work with Cerner systems, EMTEK system, MARS, and other health related data management programs (FoxPro, Oracle, Access). Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
