Northrop Grumman is seeking a Surveillance Data Analyst and Epidemiologist to provide analytical support for Global AIDS Program surveillance activities. The data analyst will provide technical assistance and training to in-country staff including CDC field staff, Ministry of Health surveillance staff, and other government agencies on HIV surveillance related data management, analyses and evaluation activities as well as other related duties as assigned. The candidate must be open to international travel for 1 – 3 weeks at a time with approximately 6 – 10 trips per year.

Core Duties:
• Provide guidance or technical assistance to Ministries of Health and PEPFAR teams on HIV surveillance
• Assist with piloting innovative methods for HIV surveillance
• Train public health professionals in the use and application of software used for collecting data and monitoring trends related to the HIV epidemic.
• Provide additional analytic and public health support to the DGHA/ESIB HIV Clinical Surveillance Team as requested in the following areas:
o Data analysis
o Protocol, report, or manuscript writing
o Technical presentations
o Responding to inquiries or information requests from the field

Minimum Requirements

Masters Degree in International Public Health, Public Health, or Epidemiology, including 3 years of related experience
• 1 year of experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting public health data
• 1 year of experience in HIV surveillance
• 1 year experience in training adult learners on technical tools and public health issues
• Experience with a variety of analytical tools, particularly SAS, STATA and Epi Info
• Experience in applying analytical tools to public health surveillance and data reporting activities
• Ability to analyze data from complex survey designs
• Experience in working in multi-cultural environments
• Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize, and manage multiple project simultaneously
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Desired Skills
• Foreign language skills, particularly Spanish, French, or Portuguese
• Experience in HIV case surveillance

Educational Requirements
Masters Degree in International Public Health, Public Health, or Epidemiology, including 3 years of related experience
US Citizenship not required
