SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting the Management Information Systems
Manager in managing all information systems and providing network support for
the domestic and international divisions of BMI.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Maintains consistency and continuity to ensure maximum efficiency of
operations

  • Demonstrates a high level of organizational skills to meet deadlines
and manage projects

  • Consults with users for problem resolution and develops solutions,
designs and specifications to satisfy user needs

  • Exhibits exceptional communication skills with users who may be
unfamiliar with technological terms

  • Performs network and hardware troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose
common network problems

  • Performs IT Help Desk duties; Performs PC/Laptop hardware and
software technical assistance, training, support & research, diagnose problems
and react accordingly, instruct users on appropriate action where possible or
take notes and research resolution, get back to users with resolution or
escalate to Manager of Information Systems

  • Maintains equipment; repairs laptops, PC’s, printers, re-formatting
and rebuilding laptops, and maintains sufficient levels of equipment as needed

  • Maintains system; assist the Manager of Information Systems to
maintain system performance and react to known issues as well as perform
preventative maintenance, assist with new technology rollouts and upgrades,
assist with administration of users and computers, monitor backup procedures and
perform occasional recoveries to ensure backup integrity, maintains and updates
computer hardware components, and provides analysis and recommendations for
Internet, Intranet, and other technical environments

  • Implements Anti-Virus & Security; maintains network and system
security via network Anti-Virus, configure and manage network security, help
users with installation and ongoing support

  • Assumes managerial responsibility of the IT Department in the absence
of the Manager of Information Systems

  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Information Systems
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associates Degree from accredited college; with two years of related experience;
OR four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination
of education and experience; requires knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and
basic network knowledge as well as knowledge and familiarity with Windows XP
Professional, Windows 7, and Windows Server.

LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Ability to: read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals,
professional journals, technical procedures, general contract provisions or
governmental regulations; to write reports, business correspondence, and
procedure manuals; to effectively present information and respond to questions
from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public; and to work
one-on-one.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to: solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete
variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to solve
practical problems and ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished
in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; to organize workload and prioritize
assignments as they are received; and to take initiative when required.
