Purpose:

Maintains and monitors daily systems performance and administers security on multiple platforms for the corporate network. Resolves problems, assists with design, implementation, and maintenance of computer systems and data centers in all office locations, performs disaster recovery measures to ensure data integrity and provides Level 2 end-user support.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for support for over 50 physical and 380 virtual servers in the American Institute for Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) corporate network providing connectivity to over 800 local and remote users
  • Provide updated anti-virus protection services to the network and end-user community
  • Responsible for backup, restoration, rotation and off site protection of company data in Durham and assists in NY, DC and Ewing offices
  • Provide 24 x 7 x 365 Storage Area Network (SAN) support to AICPA web farm in Durham and Ewing offices
  • Support DC’s corporate office’s systems and 40+ staff
  • Support NY’s corporate office’s systems and 40+ staff
  • Support Ewing’s corporate office’s systems, SAN and 60+ staff
  • Backup Email/Systems/File services administrator
  • Provide Level 1 and 2 support for hardware, software and end-user related issues
  • Provide training to Level 1 support center personnel
  • Responsible for investigating new technologies to determine if in best interest of AICPA
  • Provide vendor/product evaluation information to supervisor for procurement decisions
  • Responsible for data center security and access
  • Responsible for remote software delivery and hardware inventory for all AICPA users
  • Provide support and assistance to new initiatives regarding hardware or operating system requirements
  • Provide sound advice and recommendations to client requirements and engineering the solution within the specified project time

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience with minimum 4 years experience working in the computer/communications/Automation Data Processing field. This experience is to include administration, instructing, consulting, security and risk management, network design and management, programming, data center management, and on-line/on-sight troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux systems
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience
  • Knowledge of hardware and peripherals
  • Extensive knowledge of SAN technologies
  • Extensive knowledge of data archiving (file services and email)
  • Knowledge and experience with disaster recovery
  • Data backup and recovery using different media (tape, disk, replication)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Data center operations and management required
  • 10% to 15% travel
Experience in the following technologies:
  • Dell PowerEdge Server (including blade technology) and externally attached devices
  • EMC Celerra storage (NS series)
  • EMC Centerra storage
  • Dell Compellent storage
  • ESX virtualization/VMware v4.x and v5/Conversion from physical to virtual (P2V)
  • Server patching and security
  • Change control processes and procedures and project management
  • Disaster recovery using VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and EMC Recover Point Appliances (RPA)
  • Various tape medium, devices and software
  • In depth knowledge of data center operations to include risk assessment, HVAC and electrical requirements, hardware placement, and special needs as per the AICPA
  • Understanding client requirements and engineering solutions that both benefit the client and provide cost savings to AICPA
