Experience with IBM Websphere Commerce software suite is mandatory.

Strong preference for knowledge and experience with J2EE, Struts, SQL, JDBC, Intranet and Extranet applications on IBM iSeries, and IBM DB2.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Working knowledge designing, developing and manipulating databases, data warehouses and multidimensional databases; design strategies for data acquisition.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.

Modifies database programs to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning. Confers with co-workers to determine impact of database changes on other systems and staff cost for making changes to database.

Strong programming background is required, including direct experience in Java; along with Javascript and J2EE applications, and a good understanding of software and production systems for the enterprise.

Working knowledge of UNIX, Linux, and Windows based operating systems; plus experience with web services, intranet and extranet applications.

Experience with relational databases, SQL, DB2. Working knowledge of JDBC and advanced JSP development.
Participates in the testing process through test review, analysis, reviews and corrects programs. Be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures

Selects and enters codes of utility program to monitor database and application server performance such as distribution of records and amount of available memory.

Effectively communicates with various departments, including Web Designers and Management.
Assist with administration of websphere application server and websphere commerce.
Occasionally attends out of state training to remain knowledgeable with current information.

Adheres to safe lifting techniques, follows proper training for learned job hazards and ergonomic risk factors, participates in departmental stretching program, and overall maintains a safe working environment.

Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities

Language Skills

Requires skills to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Able to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Possess skills to effectively present information to top management, public groups and or boards of directors. Demonstrate the ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in written format.

Education and/or Experience

Four year college degree preferred and two to four years related experience and/or training.

Mathematical Skills

Mathematical aptitude to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inferences, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Need to be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Possess skills to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
