As a Linux Security Software Engineer, you will work on various parts of our SUSE Linux Enterprise distribution alongside a team of highly experienced engineers.
You will track and evaluate security issues and coordinate and contribute to the development, quality assurance, and release of security patches for our customers.
You will also audit security-relevant software and technologies in our products.
You will cooperate in secure product development processes and in the implementation of low-level security technologies.
You will actively communicate with our developers, partners, and customers on security topics.
A broad skill set is desired.
In addition, we will actively encourage you to learn more about new areas and develop your skills. Though we are looking for experienced people, this is also a great opportunity for people with limited experience to embark on a career with the SUSE Linux development team.
Tracking and evaluation of security problems
Involvement in the development and integration of patches
Preparation and coordination of updates in close cooperation with the development and quality assurance teams
Security analysis of our product technologies
Integration of existing security technologies into our products
Involvement in the development of new security capabilities
Communication and information exchange with specialists within our development teams as well as with external software development teams and customers
University degree in software development or comparable degree
Several years of experience in the area of software development and software security
Good knowledge of the Linux operating system
Good knowledge of the C language, especially in security aspects, debugging and bug-finding skills
Knowledge of scripting languages (Perl/Python/Shell)
Security-relevant knowledge of World Wide Web technologies and Web-relevant languages and technologies, e.g. Ruby (on Rails), Python (Django etc.), PHP, and others
Knowledge of other programming languages or assembler would be an advantage
Good knowledge of cryptographic technologies and their real world use
Excellent quality awareness and customer-oriented work
Good communication abilities, ability to work autonomously, responsibly, and diligently
Good command of spoken and written English
