NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED : This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

DUTY LOCATION : MATES, Fort Pickett, Blackstone, VA 23824

EMPLOYMENT STATUS : Excepted Service Male/Female Enlisted (NTE E8/MSG)

GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted (NTE E8/MSG) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.

GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army and Air National Guard Male/Female Enlisted (NTE E8/MSG), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.

MILITARY CRITERIA: Applicant must be qualified and eligible for award of an MOS as follows: CMF: 91

MILITARY ASSIGNMENT : Applicant selected for this military technician position must occupy a military assignment in the Virginia Army National Guard that ensures proper grade, unit, and MOS prior to placement.

Must meet the education/specialized experience--See Qualifications Section DUTIES:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Tests and troubleshoots aircraft rotor and/or propeller systems using special tools and test equipment. Performs troubleshooting of the powertrain systems using special tools and test equipment, diagnoses any system malfunctions and makes necessary repairs. Subjects rotor, propeller, and powertrain parts to a variety of nondestructive testing to identify imperfections not otherwise detected. Utilizing power hoists, special slings and balancing equipment, aligns and balances assembled propellers/rotor blades by making appropriate linkage adjustments and by making both chordwise and spanwise weight adjustments to bring blades into true balance. After assembly or installation of the blade systems on the aircraft, makes final adjustments to balance, track, eliminate vibrations and ensure proper revolutions per minute (RPM) by checking blade track utilizing special tracking equipment and making weight, trim tab, and control llinkage adjustments. Performs operational checks of installed aircraft blades and associated sub-systems both inflight and during aircraft maintenance ground runs. Wears and utilizes appropriate safety equipment and follows pertinent safety precautions. May be required to serve, if employed in an AVCRAD, on maintenance assistance and instruction teams (MAIT) and CONTACT Teams throughout supported area. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the basic knowledge of welding processes. Must have knowledge of technical orders, blueprints and specifications.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training demonstrating the application of a variety of electric resistance welding processes and equipment. Experience in using accepted trade methods and a variety of manual welding processes to weld all types of commonly used metals in various shapes, sizes and thicknesses. Experience using a wider range of metal welding processes to make more difficult welds meeting close tolerance, strength and other requirements. These welds may be in hard to reach places. Experience which allows the welder to devise special jigs and fixtures to hold the parts to be welded. Experience which demonstrates knowledge of several related trade procedures. Experience which enables the lay out and planning of work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications and work orders.
