We are looking for an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to join our team at Hill AFB, Utah .
Specific Job Responsibilities Include:
We are seeking experienced Linux System Administrator to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be part of our UNIX Administration Team responsible for supporting and maintaining a secure mission critical production environment. This position is responsible for planning, implementing and performing all the various tasks required to administer, monitor, operate and maintain UNIX and Solaris systems with an emphasis on the RedHat Linux Operating Environment..
Candidate shall perform Systems Administration and provide technical support for the Linux and Solaris systems in a large Department of Defense (DoD) Data Center environment. Candidates must possess demonstrable skills in a diverse mission critical, datacenter environment. Skills include installing and configuring Linux/Unix operating systems. Candidates must be knowledgeable in all aspects of Linux system administration and have proficiency in the use of standard tools and utilities. Candidate must have knowledge of standard communication protocols used between Unix servers and Wide Area Networks.
Well qualified candidates will possess the following specific skills:
OPERATING SYSTEM: Senior working knowledge in the following areas of RedHat Linux system administration: General system administration, Software management and configuration, Patch management, Security and auditing, Kernel configuration and management, File system management and configuration, Software installation, configuration, and management, Perl Scripting and Veritas NetBackup. Experience with Solaris and HPUX is also a plus.
COMMUNICATIONS: Working knowledge with the communications interfaces between Linux servers and network infrastructure (firewalls, routers, VLANs, VPNs, Encryption etc.).
ORACLE: Experience configuring and managing RedHat Linux servers to support large databases and applications.
OTHER responsibilities include but are not limited too:
This position requires work outside of core hours and rotating on call responsibilities. Some limited travel may be required
- Installation, configuration, and management of Solaris/Linux servers
- Provide 2nd/3rd level support including on-call after hours support as required
- Coordinate support efforts between inter-departmental groups
- Troubleshoot and resolve system problems and performance issues
- Administer users, groups, passwords, and other aspects of security
- Monitor system logs and activities on all servers
- Maintain formal documentation of managed systems
- Active participation in the ITIL processes, Change, Incident, Release and Problem management.
- Implement and Information Assurance (IA) policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of our UNIX environment
. Successful candidates should have a Bachelors Degree in an IT related field and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of Linux Systems Administration experience. Additional years of IT work experience can be substituted for the lack of an advanced degree. Linux and CompTia Security Plus certifications are a plus. Security + Certification is required within six months of hire.
Candidates for this position must undergo a favorably adjudicated Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) as a minimum investigation. The SSBI will be maintained current within 5-years and requests for Special Background Periodic Review (SBPR) will be initiated 6-months prior to the 5-year anniversary date of the previous SSBI or SBPR. An active Secret DoD clearance is preferred.
