The Systems Administrator - Linux is responsible for maintaining and supporting the company’s development servers and 24x7 time-critical production architecture, which run under Linux operating systems. The candidate should specialize in Linux, with proven experience with HP hardware architectures.

Implementation and administration of CentOS and RedHat linux-based servers and related software.
Build and maintain appropriate software tools to meet business objectives.
Provide top-level Linux support for all technology groups in the company.
Participate in off-hour on-call rotating support schedules for production systems – must be willing to carry phone and email device 24x7 to handle emergencies.
Implement new and existing systems designs and projects.
Participate in R&D projects to explore new technologies.
Utilize and update designs and standards for systems documentation.
Implement data security policies, user authentication management policies, disaster recovery plan and server side of desktop support policies.
Detect, analyze and resolve problems associated with Linux based servers.
Support offsite disaster recovery efforts by participating in routine disaster recovery tests.
Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
Support media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
Conducts routine hardware and software audits of servers for compliance with established standards, policies, procedures and configuration guidelines.
VMware Server experience a plus.
Other duties as assigned.

The Systems Administrator must be able to work on complex problems with minimum supervision. He/she must be able to follow defined procedures and practices, using approved tools to produce desired results.

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Minimum two years experience in an administrator/support capacity for critical production Linux environments.

Excellent oral and written communications and documentation skills are required, as is the ability to function as an integral part of a high-performing engineering team.
