CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE SPECIALIST I* - SALARY $33,312
Under direct supervision, performs a variety of tasks at the professional entry level in child protective case management; provides direct or indirect assistance to children and the families; and performs related work as required.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Sociology, Psychology or related field from an accredited college or university; Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Psychology or related field from an accredited college or university; OR Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and two years of social work or social services*** experience.

*This is an underfill classification. All positions are classified at the Child Protective Service Specialist (CPS) III level. When an employee meets the work standards and KSAs of the CPS Specialist II level, management has the discretion of promoting the employee to a CPS Specialist II with a starting salary of $35,730.

CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE SPECIALIST II** - $35,730
Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks in child protective case management; provides direct or indirect assistance to children and the families. This class is distinguished from the Child Protective Service Specialist I by greater emphasis on case management/case complexity and a higher level of authority assigned. This class may assume investigative responsibilities.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited college or university; OR Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university OR Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Psychology or related field from an accredited college or university and one year of child protective service experience; OR Master's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two years of social work or social services*** experience; OR Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and three years of social work or social service*** experience; OR one year as a Child Protective Service Specialist I in Arizona State Service.

**This is an underfill classification. All positions are classified at the Child Protective Service Specialist (CPS) III level. When an employee meets the work standards and KSAs of the CPS Specialist III level, management has the discretion of promoting the employee to a CPS Specialist III with a starting salary of $38,855.

CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE SPECIALIST III - $38,855
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of tasks in child protective case management; provides direct or indirect assistance to children and the families. May supervise subordinate staff in the absence of the Child Protective Service (CPS) Unit Supervisor. This class is distinguished from the Child Protective Service Specialist II by greater emphasis on investigative and supervisory responsibilities.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field from an accredited college or university and two years of child protective service experience; OR Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university and three years of child protective service experience; OR one year as a Child Protective Service Specialist II in Arizona State Service.

PREFERRED/IDEAL CANDIDATE: Will possess one year of computer experience, which includes Windows applications.

***Social Services is defined as organized efforts to advance human welfare, such as welfare services provided by a government or private agency for its needy, disadvantaged or disabled citizens. Experience must include the utilization of case management methodologies.

NOTE: Applicants for this position shall be subject to a search of the Child Protective Services Central Registry. Applicants for this position will be required to apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card.

In-state travel is required. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
