Chevron Mining Inc. is accepting online applications for the position of Underground Project Coordinator located in Questa, New Mexico through May 03, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Under the general direction of the Manager of Underground Engineer, this position will perform critical services regarding the underground operation.
Major responsibilities include elements of underground mine ventilation, general underground hard rock mine engineering, quality control activities for mine operations, engineering for ground support, subsidence monitoring, ore grade control, design of various systems for use in the mine, map making, general drafting, materials acquisition, as well as daily technical support for mine operational and maintenance personnel.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Assist and support all aspects related to ventilation for extensive underground hard rock mine including air flow measurement, ventilation system maintenance and operation, fan tracking and repair, necessary calculations, and facility installation.
Manage and perform work to maintain a viable convergence monitoring program.
Manage and perform ground support testing program, quality control program and safety fuse testing program.
Ensures complete compliance with all governmental agency requirements (i.e. MSHA) related to federal laws pertaining to hardrock mining.
Assist with the development tracking functions including advance, support, inspection of mine installations for QA/QC issues and compliance with legal and design parameters.
Maintain intimate knowledge of mine and operations to provide technical support in areas of expertise as required in both routine and emergency situations and be a capable member of the mine management team to support operations.
Assist the design and control aspects of map making functions for general and specific applications as needed.
Sample draw points for ore grade using various methods and maintain equipment required for this purpose. This includes use of X-Ray diffraction equipment and sampling for traditional Laboratory Analysis.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Excellent communications skills
Valid Driver’s License
Combined engineering and mining experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
Underground mine experience in Hardrock Mining Industry and operations.
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters. *LI-KM1
