Reata Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has an opening for a Senior
Medical Science Liaison in our growing and dynamic Medical
Affairs Department.

Reata Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company
dedicated to the discovery, development and commercialization of
new drugs that target major unmet clinical needs in kidney disease,
inflammation and neurodegenerative diseases. Reata is located in
the attractive northwest suburbs of Dallas, TX.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Reata Medical Science Liaison (MSL) functions as a
field-based member of the Medical Affairs organization. MSLs are
scientifically trained professionals with strong scientific and /or
research backgrounds. MSLs are expected to facilitate the clinical

strategies of Medical Affairs through:
Relationship development

Clinical trials

Scientific education and communication

Scientific expertise

RESPONSIBILIITES:
Adhere to corporate compliance in all activities including
those related to clinical trials, scientific presentations, and
responses to unsolicited requests for information.

Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in
specific therapeutic areas; nephrology, endocrinology, and
cardiology, review scientific journals, attend scientific and key
technical and regulatory meetings.

Represent the Medical Affairs organization to the investigator
community

Maintain ongoing long-term collaborative relationships with
investigators

Clinical trial support: MSLs interact with Reata Medical
Directors to determine and coordinate physician, researcher, and
investigator activities. Physicians, researchers, and
investigators can participate in Reata clinical studies, provide
important scientific information to the Reata medical team (e.g. as
advisory board participants) or act as speakers for the company.
MSLs function as the conduit between physicians, researchers,
investigators and the Reata Medical Directors.

Customer / Investigator support: MSLs respond to and
document unsolicited requests for information on Reata
investigational products and provide information on products in
clinical development. As requested by the Medical
Communications department, represent Reata investigational products
at medical information exhibits during scientific meetings.
MSLs facilitate investigator interactions with Reata Medical
Directors.

Commercial Support (forward looking): MSLs provide internal
clinical input and training to Commercial functions within
regulatory guidelines and provide support for designing and
delivering clinical presentations at advisory boards.

Clinical and Scientific Intelligence: MSLs facilitate
scientific discussions, develop scientific documents, and provide
scientific review of content and presentation materials upon
request.

Communicate with our corporate partners (Abbott Labs and KHK)
regarding publications, CME programs, joint conference support and
/ or joint advisory boards as directed by the MSL Director.

and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced science/clinical degree required with PharmD, MD,
PhD.

Industry experience and experience in the clinical practice
setting (nephrology) preferred.

Nephrology industry experience preferred

Licensure as required in individual countries

At least two (2) years of government affairs experience
required

Demonstrates high quality interpersonal, communication and
presentation skills

Able to support multiple tasks, initiatives and projects
simultaneously

Self-motivated and must thrive on challenge; seeks to expand
current level of responsibilities and owns consequences of
errors-emphasizes lessons learned

Ability to work as a member of a team to accomplish goals

Energetic, flexible, enthusiastic and highly motivated

Strong time management and administrative skills

Strong computer skills

Ability to maintain high level of ethical and compliancy
standards

Ability to communicate and present effectively to medical
community and related foundations/organizations; able to convey
complex scientific ideas fluently to any audience and to tactfully
provide scientifically sound.

Actively listens to others and is adept at confidently stating
expert opinion while respecting the position of others - can exert
diplomacy while standing firm on a position

Demonstrated ability to stay abreast of trends and new
information in the profession

Demonstrates effective leadership skills (by example and
through accomplishments), steps forward to handle challenges within
scope of authority

Willingness to travel extensively between 50% and 75% of the
time.

Must currently live in one of the following states and be able
to travel upon request to DC: DC, MD, NC, SC, VA, MA, NJ, NY or
PA.
