RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Assists the Lead Inspector in directing and training inspectors. Performs inspections of aircraft and equipment and conducts personnel evaluations. Provides a high degree of expertise in all QC Programs. Performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections to determine the condition of assigned equipment and proficiency of maintenance personnel as outlined in the QC MSEP Plan. Participates in the other QC Programs IAW the QC Plan. Provides technical advice and assistance to maintenance personnel and the work force. Through objective sampling, observations, and analysis of findings, determines the overall condition of the maintenance effort. Identifies potential problem areas and suggests solutions. Investigates problems areas identified by the Analysis Section. Trains assigned QC inspectors. Conducts classroom training on forms documentation, training program products, and other training related to the maintenance effort as required. Performs routine updating of training data in CAMS and accomplishes baseline and annual hearing examinations when assigned by the Lead Inspector. Conducts newcomer orientation. Briefs/debriefs FCF and in-flight emergencies. Provides technical advice and assistance to maintenance personnel and aircrew members. Utilizes the MESL, CAMS Debriefing module, and other windows based programs to accomplish assigned duties. Must establish debriefing guides, spreadsheets, checklists, files, and continuity programs. Adjusts work schedules to coincide with flying operations. Analyzes debriefing data as directed by Management. Participates in the other QC Programs IAW the QC Plan. Maintains required technical data and AF instructions as applicable. Practices good housekeeping tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times. May be assigned as TODA and building manager. Coordinates activities with the Lead Inspector.
In coordination with the section supervisor and the training specialist, provides on-the-job training of employees and evaluation of employee qualifications. May be selected to perform special certifications including Red X inspections. May be required to be qualified on different MDS aircraft. Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed. Must promote Company values, policies, and standards of conduct. Must be customer oriented and ensure professional coordination with Operations and other base agencies.
Shall perform other duties assigned to include TDY and travel. Must be able to work day shift, night shift, or weekend duty as required.
Must have a minimum of five years recent aircraft maintenance experience as an aircraft mechanic or above. Three years recent QC experience is required. Must be proficient in the use of CAMS and other computer programs. Appropriate formal technical schools are required. Qualification on advanced tasks such as flight control, landing gear, and canopy rigging are required. In-depth knowledge of the AF TO system and work center management functions is required. Must encourage, promote, and instill a cooperative team relationship by using tact and a professional approach during inspections and observations of the maintenance effort. High school graduate or equivalent is required. Must read, write, speak, and understand English. If required, must be able to qualify for a security clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a flight line drivers license and may be required to obtain and maintain a class CDL. Physical exertion requirement is medium.
