The Engineer I-NERC standards compliance position provides engineering services for MidAmerican facilities and compliance groups to assist with NERC reliability standards compliance. The position performs specific compliance tasks, engineering tasks and assignments in support of the compliance and standards department. Responsibilities include project management, compliance oversight, compliance tracking, compliance audits, compliance coordination responsibilities, verifying that compliance and compliance documentation is maintained, performing engineering studies, identifying corrective actions and procedure changes to strengthen compliance, participating in regional compliance forums, and responding to regulatory requests. This is the first level position of the engineer career path.

The Engineer II NERC Standards Compliance position provides engineering services for MidAmerican facilities and compliance groups to assist with NERC reliability standards compliance. The position performs specific compliance tasks, engineering tasks and assignments in support of the compliance and standards department. Responsibilities include project management, compliance oversight, compliance tracking, compliance audits, compliance coordination responsibilities, verifying that compliance and compliance documentation is maintained, performing engineering studies, identifying corrective actions and procedure changes to strengthen compliance, participating in regional compliance forums, and responding to regulatory requests. This is the second level position of the engineer career path.

The Senior Engineer-NERC leads and provides diverse engineering services for MidAmerican facilities and compliance groups to assist with NERC reliability standards compliance. The position performs diverse and complex compliance tasks, engineering tasks, and assignments in support of the compliance and standards department. Responsibilities include: project management for more significant and complex projects; leads complex compliance oversight, tracking, audits, and coordination; verifies that compliance and compliance documentation is maintained; performs complex engineering studies; identifies corrective actions and procedure changes to strengthen compliance; participates in regional compliance forums; and responds to regulatory requests. This is the third level position of the engineer career path.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

Assist with compliance oversight, coordination and tracking activities for self-certification to the MRO of compliance with standards. Monitor and verify strength of compliance evidence.

Assist with internal analyses to resolve compliance questions for possible issues detected.

Conduct technical engineering studies and investigations required to maintain compliance, comment on proposed changes to standards and prepare for future compliance requirements.

Support compliance projects to implement changes for new or revised standards or to implement enhanced detection, correction or prevention of compliance issues.

Draft and assist with regulatory responses to MRO, NERC and FERC for audits, spot checks, inquiries, event analyses, self reports and mitigation plans.

Support the involvement of the department in external and internal industry forums and activities.

Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an accredited institution.

The engineer II position requires one to three years in related engineering applications or other related industry experience.

THe senior engineer position requires Five years of successful industry experience as a practicing engineer and an advanced technical or business (MBA) degree or registration as a licensed professional engineer in a state served by MidAmerican Energy Company or eight years of successful industry experience as a practicing engineer without an advanced degree or professional engineer certification.
