Performs technical duties pertaining to diagnostic tests defined as waived, moderate, and high complexity on various body fluids from inpatients, outpatients, and external clients per accepted professional laboratory protocol. Secondary functions include phlebotomy, EKG/Holter Monitor procedures and clerical duties in providing accurate and timely data for the purpose of disease diagnosis.

Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician(CLT) from a NAACLS accredited program or equivalent is required. Qualifies as a Clinical Laboratory Practitioner, Laboratory technician as defined in WV Health Legislative Rule 54-CRS-57 (1998).
Previous experience in all major areas of the Clinical Laboratory preferred. Previous experience in phlebotomy preferred. Computer experience is required.
Currently registered or eligible for registration by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent registering agency.
Must be able to operate the Laboratory Information System (LIS). Must meet all CLIA requirements set forth by 493.1423 for moderate complexity and 493.1489 high complexity (Testing Personnel), WV State Health, and the American Association on Blood Banking (AABB). Must quality as a Clinical Laboratory Practitioner, Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Technician Trainee in WV Health Legislative Rule 64-CRS-57 (1998). New graduate may substitute Clinical Laboratory Practitioner, Laboratory Technician Training License.
