NYUAD seeks to appoint a High Performance Computing (HPC) User Support Specialist. This position will work as a part of the HPC team to provide researchers and faculty with user support, training, day-to-day assistance for the development of HPC and data intensive applications to enable their successful use of the HPC Center's resources.
Qualifications/Required Education
Bachelor's degree +5 years experience or Masters degree + 3 years experience (or educational equivalent) in Computational Science or Engineering
Preferred Education
Required Experience
Relevant experience with programming in multiple modern languages (such as Fortran, C, C++, Perl, Python), Shell scripting (bash, tcsh etc.), parallel libraries (MPI, OpenMP) and parallel processing (problem decomposition work distribution), parallel application software (MATLAB, Gaussian etc.) and scheduler configuration (e.g. PBS, SGE, MOAB, etc.)
Preferred Experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in running scientific applications on large-scale computers. Strong technical and analytical skills. Excellent organizational, writing and verbal communication skills: Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audience. Ability to work with individuals at all levels and diplomatically manage their expectations. Ability to work in a team-based environment and contribute positively to it.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Experience Management of HPC systems; Cluster Management Tools (e.g. Rocks), distributed/parallel file systems (e.g. Lustre/GPFS), Schedulers and workload managers (e.g. PBS/SGE), version control systems and Cluster Monitoring tools.
