This Industrial Engineer position will primarily be focused on people and process’s to establish a culture of waste elimination and continuous process improvement. The position will be oriented to support the development and long term growth of consolidated heavy industrial fabrication, assembly and systems installation operation. The production operation services maritime and industrial product families and integration needs for current and future programs.

Responsibilities:
Works with Senior Operations, Engineering, Planners, Master Schedulers, and Production Managers to implement lean production methodologies and ongoing continuous improvement initiatives. Leads and supports improvement projects with emphasis on lean manufacturing.
Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, and bills of material and derives requirements for production.
Conducts or leads value stream mapping, process flow and line balancing studies to eliminate waste and to optimize facilities, current processes, and organizational structure. Ensure steady flow of sub-assemblies to support top-level builds.
Assist Senior Planners to identify bottlenecks and release work orders per demand schedule.
Develop kitting procedures and routing lean routing documentation.

With assistance, responsibilities may include:
Prepares charts, graphs and reports outlining program status against schedule.
Presents program status information to management or other appropriate personnel.
Performs capacity analysis of production machinery, tools, manpower, etc. and level loading of various programs or product lines in production.

Required Skills: Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline Ability to apply job knowledge and skills to analyze and improve productivity, quality and timeliness and independently solve problems using good judgment. Ability to understand and independently implement ISO and lean manufacturing methodologies. Ability to analyze, anticipate, negotiate and manage conflicts, problems, changing situations and deadlines. Ability to perform math calculations, measurement, and analysis or reporting. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately orally, in writing or electronically. Ability to operate office equipment and use office tools and techniques effectively, efficiently and in accordance with ergonomic principles including appropriate software and computer systems. Ability to communicate work goals, progress and changes. Ability to apply interpersonal skills (empathy, negotiation, rapport, sensitivity), to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to demonstrate character, integrity, honesty, ethical behaviors and industriousness. Ability to effectively participate in teams and projects and contribute to unit cohesiveness and productivity and work in team environment.
