As a Senior Linux Systems Administrator in the Technical Operations organization, the ideal candidate will join the team responsible for the entire management lifecycle of the systems and storage supporting the on-demand CRM service. This includes, but is not limited to: system capacity (CPU/memory) planning, systems design and integration, hardware / software / OS maintenance for both servers and storage systems, ongoing systems configuration management, and ownership of all systems and storage in all data center facilities in which Technical Operations maintains a presence.
The Systems Administrator is responsible for all aspects of the Jigsaw production data center services including servers, operating systems, storage, and supporting systems.
Troubleshoot internal and external applications, hardware problems, operating system issues and work with new services on a daily basis.
Formulating and implementing monitoring, policies, procedures and standards relating to server and storage management.
Ensure that all Sys Admin projects are documented, including design documents, ongoing status reports, and summary reports.
Participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation on a periodic basis.
5-7 years Linux Administration experience, 5+ years in a 24x7x365 high-volume environment.
Demonstrated solid understanding of Linux/Solaris internals, performance tuning and general systems administration.
Experience with high availability systems and storage solutions / architectures.
Working knowledge of standard Unix infrastructure tools. (DHCP, DNS, NTP, SYSLOG, SSH, IPSec etc)
Demonstrated understanding and respect of change-control process management
Perl and/or shell scripting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Exposure to open source infrastructure management and automation tools.
Comfort with jumpstart/kickstart build environments.
Familiarity with the principles and practice of system configuration management using modern declarative tools.
Initiates some new responsibilities and helps to plan for the future of the site.
