Sales Representative – Agriculture – MidSouth

Job Description

Reporting to the Sales Manager, Agriculture, this position will be responsible for leading the sales initiatives of the agriculture product line. As a member of our professional sales team this role will develop and enhance relationships with agriculture customers in the assigned geographic territory of Mississippi, Alabama, and part of Arkansas.

  • Actively manage the accounts of internal and external agriculture clients, developing and maintaining solid customer relationships
  • Executing business plans that will assist in achieving sales objectives and expand the sales territory
  • Communication of price programs
  • Providing direction for logistics needs and product placement
  • Compiling and communicating up-to-date competitive market environment data relative to the industry and local sales territory
  • Conducting needs analyses as required to ensure appropriate programming requirements are delivered to the client
  • Providing training and support to agriculture Retailers
  • Preparing annual and monthly forecasts for customer demand
  • Acting as liaison between customers and finance/credit department to ensure orders are given proper credit approval and are released for shipment without delay
  • Participating in Product Innovation initiatives as requested
Required Experience

Required Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Business or Science relevant to Agriculture, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in independent sales roles within the agriculture or agri-business industries
  • Demonstrated ability to meet sales goals and objectives with analytical and reporting capabilities
  • Knowledge of fertilizer and crop protection products and associated marketplace conditions
  • Highly developed customer service skills with a proven ability to develop strong client relationships
  • Motivated self-starter with results and solution orientation and the ability to sustain a professional growth strategy while working independently
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Solid working knowledge of the Microsoft Office components Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Although this position is home-based, extensive travel within assigned geographic territory is required (60-70%)
