Seeking Denver’s Next Chief Information Officer

Interested? Inspired by Mayor Michael B. Hancock’s Peak Performance vision, Technology Services will drive citywide innovation, delivering government services and fulfilling the promise of our imagination. We will deliver a world-class city where everyone matters.

Help drive the Mayor’s priorities around Youth, Jobs, Safety, Sustainability, and Customer Experience. Make a real difference in a world-class community poised to innovate and to improve the lives of our constituents.

Do you want to make a real difference? Is it time in your story to contribute to the greater good? We’re looking for a proven leader who can turn technology’s promise into Denver’s reality.

Technology in Denver is very broad. You’re delivering technology services to support a wide variety of organizations unlike anything you’re likely see in the private sector... child welfare, police, small business -- the list goes on and on. Understanding this important work, and integrating technology in the mix that creates real value, will be a big part of the job.

Technology Services is still a young organization. Prior to 2006, Denver employed a mostly federated structure (agency-by-agency). Employee engagement must rise. Training and supporting our employees is key. We have to deliver on our strategic plan. Denver’s next CIO must lead and manage the organization... another big part of the job.

Denver’s next CIO will wear many hats. Most notably, you will be the face of the Mayor’s Office on all things technology, engaging in public forums and shaping the technology vision. You’ll find yourself welcoming businesses to Denver, engaging in economic development activities and ensuring business knows they’re choosing wisely when they choose Denver. This is the role in which the CIO becomes widely known.

We need you. Imagine if every successful leader spent even two years serving her community with her specific expertise. It could change the world. You could change the world.

Big Challenges Have Benefits
We won’t even attempt to pretend this is anything but a huge lift. But the task comes with perks you won’t find in a regular job. First of all, none of us have to ask “why?” every morning when we head to work. This may be the most motivating job you will ever have. Second, Denver CIO’s establish relationships and become known in a way that will serve you for the rest of your career. You’ll walk away knowing you did great things.
