We are hiring a Senior Hardware Engineer that will provide hands-on design and
technical leadership on electrical and electromechanical projects. The incumbent
will have significant impact on product innovation, cost, schedule, and feature
set. This individual will retain technical ownership of products throughout the
design, development, production and support phases.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, prototype, and document products with electronic and
electromechanical components – standard and custom circuit boards,
peripherals, power supplies, cabling, and fabricated metal and plastic parts –
either directly or through management of ODMs.
Select components and develop BOMs based on cost/performance/availability
tradeoffs.
Help review, select, and manage suppliers.
Generate and monitor project schedules.
Interface with testing agencies to secure regulatory approvals.
Perform root-cause analysis on problems detected in returned products.
Provide support to factory in resolving sourcing and production issues.
Provide training and mentoring to junior team members.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Intimately familiar with all aspects of designing systems involving cables,
power supplies, and mechanical components in addition to circuit design.
Advanced ability to design systems and equipment using conventional and
computerized tools and techniques.
Advanced ability to develop and implement test methods and procedures.
Well versed in electromagnetic compatibility regulatory requirements and
mitigation of problems found during testing
Experience designing Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) to meet certification
requirements such as DO-160 a plus.
Experience preparing technical reports and documentation.
Ability to travel to domestic and international locations as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related. Equivalent professional
experience may be substituted for formal education.
Typically, qualified candidates will have at least 9-12 years of applicable
professional experience.
