Center for Behavioral Health, founded in 1986, is an 83 bed facility
within the city of Norfolk, Virginia. Kempsville Center for
Behavioral Health offers comprehensive mental health programs to the
state of Virginia. We provide psychiatrically and medically managed
acute and residential treatment for children and adolescents with
significant impairments in their social and emotional development. We
provide quality care to children and adolescents in need using
quality, evidence based practice treatments. We are accredited by The
Joint Commission (TJC), and are licensed by the Commonwealth of
Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and
Developmental Services (DBHDS). Kempsville Center for Behavioral
Health currently has PRN Admissions Coordinator positions available.
The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
Provides telephonic and face-to-face mental health triage,
assessment, and crisis intervention both on-site and at local
hospital emergency rooms.
involuntary, direct, and mobile admissions.
individualized disposition and referrals for all calls and
Works closely with the Director of
Admissions and the Community Liaison to identify trends in referrals
and potential areas for marketing.
Works closely with the
residential Admissions Coordinator to identify potential residential
and acute care candidates.
Hours: Shifts available for
evenings and weekends
Undergraduate degree in a social
science, such as counseling, psychology, or social work.
Master’s degree preferred, or current enrollment in a
Master’s program in a social science. RN with VA State license
One or more year’s
experience in mental health counseling, crisis intervention
counseling preferred. Preferred experience in an acute psychiatric
healthcare setting. Knowledge of current psychiatric diagnostic and
treatment terminology. Familiarity with biopsychosocial assessments,
mental status examinations, and clinical interviews.
Must have knowledge of various types of referral
sources in the area, as well as the various types of funding
available. Knowledge of and ability to use oral and writing
composition skills, basic math, personal computer, Excel and
WordPerfect/Word software; ability to use telephone, copier, fax
