Under indirect supervision, assures cardiac catheterization laboratory (CCL) equipment and room are functional. Assists in direct patient care pre and post procedures. Assumes responsibilities of scrub and monitor tech during interventional and diagnostic procedures. Assumes responsibility of imaging and other radiology functions. Assures responsibility of orienting and training new personnel in diagnostic and interventional procedures as they relate to their role. Assists in inventory and materials management to assure adequate availability of consumables for lab and its related care.

Essential Functions:
  • Is responsible for preparing CCL equipment and procedure room using aseptic technique
  • Assists in direct patient care prior to case
  • Assures necessary safety measures with attention to radiation protection
  • Assists in post catheterization management of the sheath and insertion side according to scope of practice and per physician order
  • Performs roles of scrub tech and monitor tech in diagnostic and interventional procedures
  • Assures new cardiac catheterization laboratory technologist personnel are oriented and trained in procedures performed in CCL
  • Is responsible for proper function and quality of imaging and radiographic equipment in collaboration with biomedical engineering, respective industry partners, and system administrator for physiological and archival system
  • Maintains required level of cardiac life support according to scope of practice
  • Assists in inventory control and materials management. Ensures appropriate consumables are available
  • Assures appropriate and complete documentation in electronic procedure record when performing role of monitor tech
  • Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities in area of specialization
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide care and/or service appropriate to age groups served
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service
  • Adheres to and maintains current knowledge of Principles of Responsibility, applicable federal and state laws and regulations, accreditation and licensing requirements, policies and procedures. Reports and/or resolves issues of non-compliance
  • On regular, sustained basis, cooperates with other staff members both within and outside department in accomplishment of own job duties as well as assisting others in accomplishing theirs. Serves as team player and role model for other employees in Organization always exhibiting traits of courtesy, caring, helpfulness and respect. Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Two years of current cardiac special procedures and interventional cardiac catheterization lab experience
  • Graduate from accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Valid Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license (must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure)
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, oral communication, problem solving, results orientation, teamwork, and written communication
  • Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone
  • Reading, writing, speaking, understanding English
  • Training/giving and receiving instructions
  • Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g., organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, and alertness
