This is a split assignment providing support to two programs within The Frost School: Frost Oakmont Primary (students ages 5-15 with autism, pervasive development disorder (PDD), developmental delays in one or more areas, severe behavioral problems, multiple learning problems and other related disorders) and Frost Oakmont Secondary (adolescents with autism and asperger’s disorders that are expected to earn a high school diploma but may need more structure than what is provided by the other Frost programs). The 12 month school programs are located in the same school building in Rockville, MD (Montgomery County).

We are looking for a qualified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to work part-time (24 hours/week). Although not a benefits-eligible position, we do offer flexible scheduling between the two programs and during the school day. The SLP is r esponsible for providing speech and language services to the students referred or identified as in need of such services. The SLP screens and evaluates school students for possible speech, language, and hearing deficits and provides individual and group speech and language therapy. The SLP also communicates with students based on an understanding of the developmental needs of children and adolescents and works closely with treatment teams of students receiving services. The SLP assists in providing speech-language programs for staff development and also meets with parents, school representatives, and others as needed. The SLP keeps abreast of developments in the fields of speech pathology and special education.

Requires: Master's degree in speech pathology from an approved college or university, licensure as a speech-language pathologist by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene at time of appointment and continuously throughout tenure in position, and 6-12 months of related experience. Experience working with children/adolescents with autism/asperger's/severe emotional/behavioral issues strongly preferred. Work requires a comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic tools and formulation and assessment techniques in the area of speech pathology, speech and language therapy techniques and modes, as well as highly developed communication skills, both oral and written. *Again, this is a part-time (24hrs/wk), non-benefits-eligible position that supports two programs within The Frost School in Rockville (Montgomery County). The part-time position offers flexible scheduling during the school day. Salary is determined by experience/education. The part-time, pro-rated salary range is: $38,346-$53,730/yr.
