The Building Services Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of manual and clerical work in space changes; furniture rearrangement; special furniture and space setups; and equipment and furniture assembly. Responsibilities also include providing assistance in custodial services and office relief coverage, if required.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)

Perform work involved in space changes and room setups, often as lead person.

Operate a forklift or other similar lifting and moving equipment.

Assemble equipment and furniture.

Provide relief and absence coverage for office personnel and custodial staff.

May be required to work in other areas of the Physical Plant.

Perform some duties of the Building and Campus Services Crew Leader in his/her absence.

Supervise the work of assigned full-time, temporary, and student employees.

Perform other related duties, as required.

Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures)

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board Policies, College Policies, and Procedures, which are accessible on the Employee Home Page

Minimum Education/Experience

One year full time work experience that includes one of the following: Experience with furniture moving, delivery, general building space or furniture allocations, operations; or service experience at a large institutional facility, event center, college/university environment; or experience in customer service, vendor and/or contract relationships.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to read and write.

Positive human relations skills.

Positive communication skills.

Ability to operate a forklift or other similar lifting and moving equipment.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Ability to perform strenuous work requiring lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and climbing.

Ability to lift weights up to eighty (80) pounds.

Ability to work outside in all types of weather.

Ability to work periodically in hot or cold temperatures in non-conditioned spaces.

Position has some risk of occupational exposure to human blood or other potentially infectious materials.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to work flexible hours including daytime, nighttime, and weekend hours.

Ability to effectively use a variety of hand tools.

Possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.

Ability to read simple drawings and plans.

Access to a residential or cellular telephone.

Required Training

Work Hours

7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, and as scheduled.
