Our client is a market leader in Customer Interaction Management seeking an Oracle DBA capable of administering Oracle RDBMS 11gR2 and lower versions with interoperability knowledge.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Participating in mandatory on-call rotation
  • Creating documents for the processes developed by the DBA team to roll into the production
  • Incident management as and when an incident is reported and work with appropriate teams (Production Support, Development and Professional Services)
  • Monitoring the log files for the index rebuild processes
  • Monitoring backups and working with Unix SA team as needed
  • Attending calls for the issues reported by the clients through Production Support
  • Performance tuning of the Oracle RDBMS
  • Space management, proactively and in response to alerts
  • Capacity planning
  • Providing assistance to engineering teams for new products
  • Proactively recommending process and development methodology for improvements
  • Ensuring proper technical design and documentation
  • Creating and/or customizing complex database monitoring application systems
  • Providing encapsulation of all deployment components of databases (binaries, baselines, scripts, documentation)
  • Regular management updates of technical issues and their impact to the client
  • Critical decision-making and resolution in emergent situations
  • Proactive disk space utilization, database performance and availability monitoring for all production databases
  • Preventative and periodical maintenance on all databases
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Mid-level Database Administrator with a minimum of three to four years Oracle experience
  • Proven skills in backup and restore / recovery of Oracle databases using RMAN and MML - Veritas NetBackup
  • Management of High Availability (HA) and Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) architecture supported Oracle databases
  • Strong commitment to 24X7 environment monitoring, metrics generation and logging, on-call rotation schedule
  • Recent experience as an Oracle DBA in a 24X7 production environment
  • Experience in disaster recovery Oracle MAA and HA solutions
  • Experience with Oracle External Tables
  • Experience with large (in terabytes) databases
  • Extensive experience with high-volume OLTP database systems
  • Extensive UNIX shell scripting, PLSQL, and SQL skills
  • Highly motivated to solve problems quickly and completely
  • Proven troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze problems by type and severity and understand complex relationships between various infrastructure components
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with team members and vendors
  • Expert understanding of Oracle database administration best practices (e.g., schema management, index optimization, and use of hints)
  • Understanding of Data Warehouse Architecture and concepts and experience with high volume data analytics
  • Strong understanding of Oracle 11gR2 RDBMS on Sun Solaris SPARC 64 bit OS
  • Solid generalized understanding of all major Oracle RDBMS components (CBO, replication, backup, streams, physical standby database management etc.)
  • Commitment to 24X7 environment monitoring, metrics generation and logging, on-call rotation schedule
  • Ability to resolve production problems independently
  • Proven troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze problems by type and severity
  • Experience with database support software and procedures
  • Experience with partitioned table and index management
  • UNIX shell scripting, PL/SQL, and SQL experience
  • Ability to analyze and resolve data related issues
  • Experience in deploying database changes for new database releases with minimal downtime
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Attention to detail, process, and quality
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities
  • Motivated to solve problems quickly and completely
  • Experience with Oracle Utilities such as: export and import utilities, Data Pump Utility, Oracle Scheduler, SQL Loader
Plus qualifications:
  • SQL Server 2008 R2 knowledge
  • PostgreSQL knowledge
