Essential Qualifications

BA/BS and a minimum of 8 years professional work experience in an IT service organization

At least 2 years of supervisory experience

Demonstrated ability to prioritize projects and produce results in a fast-paced, team environment

Demonstrated ability to manage complex data in a data-rich environment

Proven project management experience

Understanding of the technical domains (e.g. web, data management, hardware, software, etc.) that encompass the duties of this position

Demonstrated strong communication skills and ability to build productive work relationships

Demonstrated experience and excellence in customer service

Experience working in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree or professional certification

4 years of experience and demonstrated success in leading IT teams

Experience with a CRM system

Duties/Responsibilities

The IT Director for the College of Continuing Education (CCE) is a results-oriented manager with a customer-service orientation who provides the strategic IT vision and leadership for the College. CCE serves a broad audience of learners with a large variety of programs, both credit and noncredit, and is heavily reliant on data integrated from multiple sources to provide information and produce timely reports that inform decisions about programs and services to recruit and retain learners. The college has a robust web presence that requires maintenance and development. Working within a largely Microsoft infrastructure, CCE's IT department facilitates productive collaboration throughout the college and guides strategic decisions about new systems and tools to meet changing business needs.

This is a 100% time, 12-month annually renewable academic administrative appointment as Info Tech Manager (Classification 9381) and reports to the Dean of the College of Continuing Education with "dotted line" accountability to the University of Minnesota's Vice President for Information Technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure Delivery of Critical IT Support for CCE Staff and Students (35% of time)

? Provide timely and accurate reports based on data that requires interpretation and integration from multiple sources

? Make hardware and software decisions, and provide timely desktop support

? Support processes and manage systems for recruiting students and learners to programs

? Support CCE's web presence and web-based connectivity to learners and prospective learners

? Develop and continuously update documentation for work processes, system infrastructure and miscellaneous IT projects and problem-solving completed by the unit

Provide Leadership for Making On-Going Strategic Decisions about Technology in CCE (20% of time)

? Maintain effective communication with units across CCE to understand and support goals and business needs

? Be aware of existing and emerging technology solutions, and guide CCE in adopting appropriate solutions to meet its needs

? Coordinate communication with CCE Leadership Team about strategic opportunities and strategic decisions related to IT, as well as prioritization of major projects, to ensure alignment with CCE's strategic priorities

? Maintain CCE's relationship to the University's Office of Information Technology, and guide CCE in having optimal alignment with University IT resources and support

? Facilitate productive collaborations within CCE related to technology applications and new or emerging directions of technology solutions

? Lead IT teams as appropriate to further the college's projects and goals

Manage Staff and Operations (30% of time)

? Supervise, train and mentor staff and oversee daily operations of IT unit

? Manage staff capacity and capabilities to meet CCE needs and priorities in the most efficient way possible

? Model and create an environment that provides excellent customer service and professional support

? Develop and manage unit budget in collaboration with financial area manager

? Evaluate outsourcing needs to meet appropriate project delivery time frames

? Oversee negotiation and administration of vendor contracts and service agreements, including software licensing agreements

Project Leadership (15% of time?may vary)

? Provide Project Management expertise for major CCE technology-based projects

? Ensure that project management skills are applied to all projects, regardless of size, delivered by the unit

? Create thorough documentation of project specifications and final product delivered for all projects
