Directs, through unit supervisors, patient care activities of the Medical Center on evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Coordinates and adjusts staffing of nursing personnel to meet changes in patient census. Assists with patient, family, visitor, physician, employee identified problems as requested. Interprets and assures compliance to policies and procedures. Identifies problems in Nursing such as understaffing, absenteeism and wastefulness and takes corrective action. Responds to all codes and initiates and coordinates emergency plan per Medical Center policy. Responds to requests for emergency assistance and reassigns staff accordingly. Assists with pharmaceutical needs of patients in absence of pharmacy staff. Manages public relations for the Medical Center in the absence of PR personnel. Engages in studies and investigations related to improving delivery of patient care. Following training and competency assessment, performs point of care testing as required. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Licensure, Registration, Certifications:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS) from an approved American Heart Association training program or CPR for the Professional Rescuer from the American Red Cross. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or within first year of hire.
Minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
Five years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse with previous supervision or management experience.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must possess good human relations and communication skills, application of nursing process and team building skills; understanding of health care environment, patient/employee rights and related legal implications. Requires effective negotiation skills. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide the care appropriate to age of the patients served on assigned unit. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient\\\'s status in addition to being able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient\\\'s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.
