DUTIES: : The Nutrition Services Division (NSD) mission is to assist agencies in meeting the nutritional needs of school children in preschool through grade 12, infants and children in child care institutions, and elderly or chronically impaired adults in adult day care centers. The NSD operates the Pomona Distribution Center that services counties in Southern California. The distribution center processes frozen, cool, and dry food commodities from the United States Department of Agriculture. Warehouse Workers are responsible for receiving, storing, inventorying, and loading the food commodities for distribution to agencies and schools enrolled in the National School Lunch Program.
REQUIREMENT: Valid Class “C” Driver License
**Due to federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, Warehouse Workers are
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Must be willing to work in frozen and cold storage areas for long periods of time
required to have forklift experience and will be trained, tested and certified if selected.
WHO MAY APPLY: Individuals who have eligibility for appointment to the above class (e.g., transfer, list, reinstatement). All applicants must clearly indicate the basis of their eligibility in box 12 “Explanations” on the Standard Application Form (Std 678). Employment provisions as outlined by the Department of Personnel Administration’s State Restriction of Appointments (SROA) policy will prevail. In addition, current or future executive orders relative to filling vacant positions may also affect this process.
PLEASE NOTE: Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the minimum qualifications, the applicant will be removed from the eligibility list.
