Job Description:
Tetra Tech AMT is looking for a Linux Technician System
Administrator for a contract supported position in which
you will provide innovative solutions for our client and
AMT personnel; maintain and migrate legacy technologies
into new forward looking solutions when possible; and
provide support to multiple stakeholders within the
contract support domain. To be successful in this role,
you should be able to handle multiple technical requests
from clients and complete them efficiently; while
maintaining a go-getter attitude, strong communication,
and working in a dynamic, high-priority environment.
Primary job duties and responsibilities may include, but

are not limited to the following:
  • Installing computers
  • Maintaining hardware and operating systems
  • Performance and network tuning
  • Create and maintain a robust, Linux computing
environment to support client, company DBA’s and
software developers
  • Contribute to the design of the new architecture, and
implement the architecture plan in accordance with best
practice IT guidelines and with minimal impact to the
associate environment community
  • Promptly install and maintain large numbers of new
open source, application software analysis packages into
an already complex server environment, in some cases in
a virtualized environment
  • Maintain and tune LINUX computing cluster/s and
individual LINUX application and database servers
  • Maintain operating systems and monitor system backups
and patches are up to date
  • Work with network team to trouble-shoot network
issues, ensure data integrity and safety of systems
  • Manage account users, install software, keep hardware
and software up to date and ensure transfer of large
data files between machines are working
  • Write (as needed) technical documentation of
applications and their environment
  • Assist in automation of existing system administration
processes
  • Adhere to federal standards for security and
compliance

Job Requirements:The successful candidate will have:
  • 4-10 Years-experience.
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or
equivalent.
  • Linux (strong knowledge) Kernel / Red Hat, Ubuntu,
CentOS, Solaris, UNIX
  • Knowledge of Perl, Bash, Shell Scripting language
  • Skills:
o Linux Kernel, Expert knowledge of TCP/IP networking
and protocols, including DNS, SMTP, HTTP/S, TFTP, LDAP,
SSH, IPSec, Samba, NFS, NTP, FTP, SFTP, TELNET,
KERBEROS, SNMP, SSL , SAN, LUNS, Web server, Portals,
Single Sign On, Firewalls, and some GNOME/KDE
  • Experience with managing enterprise Linux or Unix
servers (such as CentOS, RHEL, Solaris, Ubuntu); Systems
Administration: Linux installation, maintenance,
upgrade, backup, NFS, TCP/IP networking, Virtualization.
  • Experience with hardware installation, configuration,
and updates; and software patches, job scheduling,
system backups.
  • Experience with some or all of the following: Oracle
application & database servers, LDAP, Apache HTTPd,
Tomcat, iptables, rsync, MySQL, and Vmware
  • Experience with parallel and clustered file systems;
providing primary support for escalated helpdesk issues
related to Linux servers in Development, Staging and
Production environments; Supporting and working with
virtualization infrastructure; Creating and maintaining
standard server OS installations and images for both
Linux and or UNIX.
