Non-appropriated funds. Renewable dependent upon availability of funds. Position to begin approximately June 2013. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with GEAR UP staff to plan, design, implement and evaluate College Application and Exploration Seasons and Senior Transition Day activities.
  • Coordinate and fulfill requests from schools and organizations for speakers, college awareness activities, and campus visits.
  • Assist in communications with internal and external stakeholders, students, and families via electronic or print media.
  • Coordinate mailings and/or communications with GEAR UP students on college access events.
  • Assist in collecting event documentation for GEAR UP reporting purposes.
  • Develop information flyers or brochures for various college access events and information. Work with vendors to print and distribute materials.
  • Plan and coordinate logistics for large scale conferences and workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in education, business, social work or related fields and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for project coordination or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  • Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in project coordination demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with project coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of project coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer for word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Proficiency in use of software for graphic design and publishing.
  • Desirable Qualifications
  • Familiar with UH campuses and/or Hawaii's public schools.
  • Familiar with college access programs and activities.
