s responsible to the Vice Provost for Enrollment for compiling, analyzing and reporting the University's official data. IR provides analytical and research support to the Chancellor, Provost, Vice Chancellors, Deans, academic departments, and research laboratories and centers. We are seeking a Database and Reporting Specialist to join our team.
The Database and Reporting Specialist oversees the creation and maintenance of IR's data files and databases. S/he produces reports and analyses based on these and on data in the University's administrative software system. The Specialist uses industry-standard protocols to ensure data integrity. Collaborating with IR staff, s/he proactively plans for the Office's data and analytical needs.
The Specialist will:
1) Work with clients to understand the information they've requested, and develop appropriate queries and reports to fulfill their needs. S/he will ensure data accuracy throughout the report creation process.
2) Create and maintain the data files and databases that IR uses for reporting and analysis. S/he will continuously verify data accuracy through the implementation of standard, regular quality assurance protocols.
3) In collaboration with IR staff, continually re-evaluate existing data files and databases to ensure flexibility and accuracy in analysis and reporting. S/he will suggest and implement modifications as required.
4) Monitor and log report requests received by the Office, and provide the Director and staff with regular updates. S/he will monitor the production report run schedules, and will regularly modify them based on scheduling triggers and client requirements.

-Bachelor's degree in computer science, the social sciences, or a related field
-7-10 years of demonstrated experience working with relational databases and with report-writing software (for example, Cognos, OBIEE Analysis)
-Experience using and writing SQL
-Significant experience and proficiency using statistical analysis software for reporting and analysis
-Advanced proficiency with MS Office suite (especially Excel and Access)
-Exceptionally strong attention to detail, oral communication skills, and customer service orientation
-Demonstrated willingness to acquire new skills
-Proven ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines in a consistent, timely and professional manner
-Demonstrated ability to reprioritize projects on short notice
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
-Higher education experience preferred
-Ability to work independently
