Job Description

Redhat jBoss Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Consultant (Expert)
The client is planning to employ Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts and practices for new application development in the near future. As the client begins legacy modernization efforts specialized SOA infrastructure and software were identified to facilitate SOA application development Redhat jBoss Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), and IBM WebSphere Service Registry. This technology is not new to the industry and is currently in use however, at client practical experience is limited and adoption of this technology is the beginning stages. The client is seeking guidance on practical adoption strategies, assistance bringing the technical staff up to speed on installation, configuration and integration of these technologies in the Client systems architecture.

An Enterprise Service Bus ESB) is used on an SOA to enable the separation of communication and integration logic from the application business logic. The client selected a commercially available ESB product, the Redhat Redhat jBoss ESB from Redhat. The ESB is generally accepted to be important in IT infrastructures supporting large SOA environments. The Redhat ESB will be used for most SOA projects.
A Redhat ESB technical specialist is required to support Redhat ESB and to assist with extending Redhat ESB to the Client enterprise. Work will entail meeting the following objectives related to the ESB:
Provide technical support in configuring a client application that will be calling services via the ESB. The technical specialist design, recommend and demonstrate best practices for routing and mediation services
Provide consultative support for service-enabling existing applications at the client. This may include core services and CICS legacy applications.

Identify, recommend and demonstrate best practices in client’s environment Provide consultative support for affording ESB functionality to client’s SOA development projects.
Identify and recommend best practices for meeting client’s security policies where applicable.
Provide guidance and direction to the client for implementing day-to-day operations, maintenance and support activities, and to insure continuous and stable performance of the Redhat ESB. This work includes performing risk mitigation, analysis, and planning related to upgrades, performance improvements, and conversions.

Assist client in preparing for application deployments that will employ the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) platform.

Skillsets should include:
A minimum of 8 years knowledge and/or work experience with SOA.
Experience installing and customizing Redhat’s Enterprise Service Bus,
Experience with SOA tools, technologies and enterprise application deployments in a Solaris environment,
Experience using Web Services, XML, DB2, Eclipse IDE and Middleware administration,
Experience using source code control tools,
Familiarity with DataPower and WebSphere Services Registry and Repository,
Experience with Maven and Nexus in context of the Redhat jBoss ESB repositories,
Demonstrated ability to write clear and professional quality technical documentation and recommendations for management and technical audiences,
Experience in supporting application development in using the Enterprise Service Bus.
Advanced technical writing skills
Excellent communication skills with client stakeholders at all organizational and technical levels
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies
Demonstrated ability to seek out information (proactive learning)
Ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team
BS and 2 years required Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of program/project management support experience OR Master’s degree
Experience capturing and documenting requirements (minimum of 2 years)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent time management
Ability to contribute to a high-performing, motivated workgroup by applying interpersonal and collaboration skills to achieve project goals
Ability to contribute to the creation of an environment that motivates individuals to work collaboratively as a team
