Ministry Medical Group is looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Chain o' Lakes Clinic in Waupaca, Wisconsin. This position is a 0.8FTE, scheduled for 32 hours per week, and will play a major role in delivering the best care to our patients!
The Licensed Practical Nurse utilizes a systematic approach to nursing practice only when patient clinical condition is predictable, noncomplex and requires basic nursing care. The position requires the ability to make decisions consistent with policies and the strict observance of confidentiality. This individual functions as an integral member of the health team; performs nursing functions within the standards of Practice for the profession and provides assistance in emergencies under the direction of RN/provider
The Licensed Practical Nurse will:
Facilitate efficient patient flow by assisting patient into exam room and preparing patient for examination. Perform basic nursing care duties under the direction of RN/provider including vital signs, give injections, immunizations, and IV maintenance after required training. Assure that corresponding documentation is completed.
Follow infection control/safety standards per policy and utilize personal protective equipment as appropriate.
Maintain/review patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Obtain tests and examination results.
Implement nursing measures for the comfort and well being of the patient, prepare patient and equipment and assist providers during treatments, examinations, and minor surgical procedures.
Follow written, verbal, and standing orders for all tests, treatments, medications and procedures, with appropriate documentation.
Establish and maintain frequent and open communication with nursing manager, nursing staff, providers and all other departments.
Respond to/refer incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
Phone in/mail prescriptions as ordered by provider.
Document all interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed.
Help with scheduling of tests and/or treatment as ordered by provider. Make sure appropriate office notes and test results are sent to other facilities to ensure continuation of patient care.
Acquire patient consents and provide patient education as directed by provider/RN.
Notify patients of test results, basic nursing and medical advice as directed or written by the RN or provider in a timely manner.
Follow opening and closing procedures for station as assigned.
Review patient chart to ensure all pertinent data is available to the provider prior to the visit.
Prepare, stock and clean exam room. Clean other areas of the department as required by OSHA guidelines. Maintain supplies and equipment for treatment.
Rotate to various departments and sites as necessary to maintain adequate staffing levels.
Licensed LPN in the state of Wisconsin is required
One year professional nursing experience is preferred..
CPR certification or to achieve certification within first year is required.
Ability to handle multiple-tasks with an attention to detail. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, providers and other staff. Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills related to problem resolution.
