SALARY RANGE: $32,733 - $51,575 - Grade 12 (TSHRS salary rules apply)

The Motor Vehicle Administration is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Customer Agent III - Lead Worker. Employees in this classification perform a variety of duties such as titling and registering vehicles, licensing and monitoring of drivers, issuing identification cards, enforcing insurance and vehicle emissions laws, investigating for non-compliance with motor vehicle laws and regulations and other customer support functions. Employees assign, review, and approve work and train lower level Customer Agents. Employees receive supervision from a Customer Agent Supervisor or other designated officials. Employees may perform non-commercial driver's license examinations. Employees in this classification are required to work over six service days including Saturdays, and may include evenings. The incumbent in this position may be a member of a covered bargaining unit and may be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience involving vehicle titling and registration and issuing driver licenses, or other MVA-wide central customer service functions.
Note: Applicants may substitute customer service experience for the required education at a rate of one year of experience for one year of education.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
For employees conducting driver's license tests and related duties:
1. Employees are required to possess a Class C motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
2. In accordance with Transportation Article, Section 16-105 (b), Annotated Code of Maryland, candidates for employment must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older and must be licensed to operate a motor vehicle for at least three years in the State of Maryland or another state.
3. Employees conducting driver's license test must have successfully completed agency training certification programs prior to administering driver examinations and obtain an appropriate class driver's license.
4. Employees conducting road tests must pass a medical examination administered by the Transportation Service Medical Advisor as a condition of employment and are subject to medical reexamination every two years or may be subject to reexamination sooner if requested by physician order.
