      Divisional Description
      This position will be located in the Corporate Division. Corporate provides centralized service and support to Transamerica's operating companies. Service units include corporate accounting, actuarial, audit, benefits, business development, compliance, information technology, law and tax.

      Under direct supervision, responsible for handling verbal and written contact with employees and retirees regarding payroll and benefits. A reply to inquiries using multiple systems, technologies and the coordination of other functions is required.
      · Speaks with and communicates in writing with employees and retirees regarding benefits and payroll; documents, evaluates and resolves customer’s inquiries.
      · Process various requests for payroll and benefit information from employees and retirees. Ability to research specific questions using various applications and resources is required.
      · Perform routine functions of some of the benefit and payroll processes, including the employee contact portion of death claims, retirements, life conversions, employment verifications.
      · Review benefit and payroll forms from employees such as beneficiary forms, timesheets, benefit change forms, etc. for completeness and accuracy and forward to the designated areas for processing.
      · Gain proficiency in automated workflow system.
      · Consistently meet/exceed set quality and productivity standards.
      · Function within a team based environment, and actively participate in achieving team goals.
      · Will be expected to take phone calls an average of 6-7 hours a day.
      · Other duties as assigned based on divisional needs.
      High School diploma or equivalent. Associates degree preferred. 0-1 year call center or customer service experience/training preferred. General understanding of Transamerica Employee Health Plans preferred. Experience with AWD a plus.

      Normal office environment. Basic knowledge of Avaya phone system. Must be available to work during the hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm. Fundamental computer knowledge and maneuverability within window applications. Basic understanding of Microsoft office suite, specifically Word and Excel.

      Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions and all safety rules. Basic knowledge of payroll and benefit plans. Excellent oral and written communication skills with an emphasis in customer service. Attention to detail. Ability to research and interpret information independently or with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize and know when to escalate an issue to the correct area or to the management level. Ability to consistently complete work within standard time frames set by department. Ability to anticipate the next question and provide thorough information to achieve one-call resolution. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and company information. Ability to work independently and seek additional opportunities when able. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes. Ability to listen, be patient and present a positive approach. Ability to work in a team environment to develop integrity, trust and respect of coworkers at all levels.
