Part Business Analyst, part Art Director, the Photo Book Merchandising Manager is responsible for developing and executing the design and merchandising strategies for the category as well as the day-to-day execution of these strategies on the website and through other marketing channels. This person will report to the Sr. Manager of Merchandising, work closely with a team of external designers and partner with cross-functional teams including marketing, content design, creative services, and engineering.
Management of design strategy
Evaluate the competitive landscape of photo book designs and uniquely position Shutterfly’s offering to consumers to provide relevant, design-forward, user-friendly styles.
Maintain awareness of trends in related markets such as stationery, scrapbooking and textile design and interpret them appropriately for the Shutterfly customer and Photo Books.
Develop the photo book design content brief.
Recommend designers to submit styles for evaluation. Manage designer relationships to optimize the breadth of styles offered in the collection.
Manage processes to ensure timely delivery of high quality content at regular intervals into the creation paths.
Support of onsite visual merchandising and marketing
Serve as the hub to communicate and educate cross functionally about all things related to photo book styles.
Develop and communicate the annual style publishing calendar and quarterly merchandising guidance for featured styles to support Brand/marketing messages
Participate in the merchandising and messaging processes to implement a compelling and differentiated presentation of photo books on site and throughout marketing channels (including online banners, direct mail and catalogs, in store, and others).
Inspire photo book customers through visual merchandising of hero books - sourcing photography and sample photo books used in marketing and merchandising efforts.
Tracking of sales and customer behavior
Understand trends in customer storytelling and photography, mining customer projects and feedback. Incorporate insights into the design strategy and assortment.
Direct research plans to better understand our audience and how opportunities for new designs and use cases can grow the business.
Analyze sales data and conversion analysis related to style selection and customization behavior.
Actively participate and contribute to product initiatives to better present styles and drive project conversion.
Successfully contribute to the annual revenue growth targets for the photo book business.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in retail merchandising; demonstrated success in ecommerce settings & product launches.
Strong eye for design! Graphic Design experience preferred.
Broad experience partnering with designers and creative in integrated teams and developing efficient processes for feedback and collaboration.
Must have a track record with business measures, data analysis and translating insights into strategy.
Organized, used to multi-tasking, and able to meet deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal, public communication and presentation skills.
Highly developed PC skills; advanced proficiency with Excel, Adobe Creative Suite.
Interest in photo books, photography and/or storytelling.
BA/BS degree in marketing, communications, design or related fields
