Primary Location


Basic Purpose

Provide repair and maintenance to fleet tractors and trailers.


Have basic knowledge and training to perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on diesel tractors and trailers.

Make repairs on ramps, doors bulkheads, etc.

Perform tune-ups on all types of engines - plugs, wires, etc.

Fuels, oils, changes filters, and greases vehicles as needed.

Perform A, B, and C preventative maintenance on all equipment, including tires, brakes, and bearings.

Set up and repair two wheelers.

May be required to repair or replace tires on vehicles.

Test-drives the repaired equipment.

Make road service calls when required for minor repairs such as replacing belts and hoses.

Repairs and maintains hand trucks, pallet jacks, and performs other maintenance as needed.

Will be required to wear or use safety equipment as needed.

Accurately completes required paper work (work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, etc.) for proper vehicle maintenance cost & history.

Ensure that all parts and supplies are charged out to the proper repair order.

Ensure conformance with vehicle manufacturer's service manual and bulletins.

Ensure proper working conditions, shop and vehicle safety practices are followed.

Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.

Performs other duties as required or directed.




High school diploma or equivalent required. Must currently hold a valid Class-A CDL license or must acquire a valid Class-A CDL license within (6) months of employment and be DOT certifiable.

Related Experience


Must have 3-5 years of verifiable hands-on diesel truck mechanic experience with ThermoKing/Carrier Refrigeration Certification. Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs. Must furnish own personal hand tools.



Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations as pertaining to the shop and fleet. Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals. Excellent communication skills; able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills. Ability to read and follow written instructions in English. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Must be able to work overtime when needed. Good attendance and punctuality a must.

Physical Requirements

Physical Requirements: The physical demands of the job require standing for long periods of time, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching and lifting. Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs.
