What You'll Do
for John Deere Electronic Solutions located in Fargo, ND, you will be responsible for managing products/projects involving department or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of a product or system to external customers. In addition, you will:
Plan and direct schedules and budgets.
Monitor the product/project from initiation throughout production, interfacing with customers on technical matters.
Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the product/project on schedule and within budget constraints.
Assign and monitor work of product engineering staff, providing technical support and direction.
Develop and maintain project schedules in MS Projects.
Responsible for project and product financial performance.
Guide and facilitate cross functional product team.
Support customer team.
Achieve consistent product team performance to procedures.
What It Takes
We need an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally, you will have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience in a related field. We also require:
7+ years experience in a related design or manufacturing field.
Substantial depth of knowledge in all areas of design, verification, validation, and manufacturing of electronic assemblies consisting of electronic hardware, software, and mechanical packaging.
Ability to develop, manage, and communicate information in a clear and organized manner, including managing customer relationships to ensure clarity of understanding of objectives.
Ability to manage cross-functional team performance to achieve results, and identify and resolve conflicts. Also, must be able to analyze internal and external influences on individual and team performance and morale, and take actions to improve effectiveness.
Ability to work with only limited guidance in line with a broad plan, budget, or strategy.
Ability to manage project scope, analyze and take actions on scope changes to achieve or modify project objectives.
Ability to manage project schedules and perform ongoing analysis to forecast variances and trends. Develop and implement responses to achieve project objectives.
Ability to manage project costs, identify and implement responses to cost variations to maintain control over changing financial and overall project objectives.
Ability to manage quality assurance, analyze results, and initiate appropriate actions to enable quality outcomes.
Ability to manage risk, analyze variances, and initiate risk responses to achieve objectives with minimal disruption and conflict in a changing environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects, identify and resolve inter-project and intra-project conflicts to minimize impact on project objectives.
A strong candidate will also have:
Minimum 10 years experience in a related design or manufacturing field.
Experience in the custom electronic product business.
Product development and manufacturing exposure.
Electronic industry experience.
Background in agriculture, construction, automotive or industrial equipment industry.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.
Good business acumen with previously demonstrated financial responsibility and accountability.
Willingness to travel both nationally and internationally.
