Reports to the Transportation System Engineer of the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT). Assists the program in improving data quality, and designing, developing, and
conducting analyses for Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) crash and inspection data. Works with the NJDOT program manager in the fulfillment of Bureau of Trucking Services (BTS) focus as a resource,
that provides technical support, program support, and training to agencies, resulting in better trucking solutions for NJ. Performs data analysis efforts and conducts matching for crashes, matching
for inspections, and data quality work. Prepares progress reports, summary materials, and fact sheets as required and requested, specifically to address reports generated for the Federal Motor
Carriers. Makes decisions or choices following standard practices and procedures, specifically as they relate to technical investigation and problem solving. Maintains documentation and databases for
all trucking crash and inspection information. Provides technical assistance and develops protocols for NJDOT and BTS Initiatives. Evaluates program effectiveness, analyzes various documents and
program data, and creates routine informational materials. Coordinates project deliverables specifically as they relate to the federal structure and reporting to Federal Motor Carriers.
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related scientific field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience, and knowledge of general principles and practices
within the discipline and the ability to use that knowledge for practical application. Skills are normally acquired through an accumulation of work experience and/or specific work related training
programs. Also requires good communication skills, presentation skills, and computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs. Requires strong skills in planning and organizing, information integration,
decision-making, and attaining results. Knowledge or experience in the trucking industry environment, data analysis tools, applications, and concepts is preferred.
This position will initially report to NJDOT in Trenton, NJ on a daily basis for an undetermined amount of time; however, Rutgers University CAIT is the primary office location for this position.
Occasional travel within New Jersey to meetings, project sites, initiatives, or events may also be required.
