At Wayfair, Category Management Teams are responsible for all facets of an individual business in segments such as Shoes, Outdoor, Furniture, Housewares, Office, Pet, Lighting, and Luggage to name a few. Daily projects include analyzing sales trends, communicating with suppliers, and using innovative and creative marketing strategies to promote the sale of our products through Wayfair.com.
The most successful Category Management Associates are the ones who actively seek to understand how all the Wayfair teams operate and intersect. On any given day you’ll interact with members of our Customer Sales & Service team (talking daily with customers on the phone), Customer Acquisition team (search engine marketing), Customer Retention team (email marketing to existing Wayfair customers), and Supplier Operations team (improving supplier performance), and our Finance team. These teams are essential to keeping our categories running smoothly and profitably. Understanding how each of these teams work will ensure that your category operates like a well-oiled machine.
As a Category Associate you are a consummate learner. You have an insatiable need to understand how things work, coupled with an insatiable desire to make things work better. Our categories run like mini-businesses. Category teams are tight-knit, collaborative and entrepreneurial in spirit. As a result, teams enjoy a real sense of ownership over their category. The ability to work well in a team, and work until the job is done, is a hallmark of top Category Associates that will go on to become business leaders at Wayfair.
