Located in one of the world’s most desirable higher education markets, Long Island University (LIU), one of America’s largest and most comprehensive private universities, is seeking a Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations to work closely with new President Kimberly Cline in support of her mission to transform this multicampus institution.

Since its founding in 1926, LIU’s core mission has been to provide access to excellence in higher education to people from all walks of life. The premise that people of all ethnicities, ages and socioeconomic backgrounds are entitled to a quality education has been the guiding principle behind more than eight decades of outreach, expansion, empowerment and accomplishment.

The successful candidate will be a seasoned development leader prepared to seize the unique opportunity to work in partnership with a dynamic and supportive new President. The Vice President will articulate and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for development and build a culture of philanthropy that will ensure a bright future for the University.

To accomplish these objectives, the Vice President must possess a significant track record of success as a fundraiser and as a leader of people and programs as well as superior strategic skills at the prospect, program, and institutional level, including experience in the construction, articulation, and execution of visionary strategic plans. A deep and abiding commitment to higher education is required, as is a proven history of successful personal fundraising at the major and principal gift level. The Vice President will possess contemporary knowledge of best practices nationally and will lead his or her team to that level of productivity and performance with a management style typified by collaboration, exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, and unimpeachable personal integrity.
