Our portfolio includes new building design & construction, renovation and historic preservation projects for college and university and government clients. Our Energy group performs audits, analysis, commissioning/retro, design and energy retrofit construction projects for end users as well as supports the overall firm needs on energy modeling. EYP is currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer for our Energy group based in our Albany, NY location.

In addition to performing energy audits, commissioning and retro-commissioning, the Energy Project Engineer performs condition assessments, energy master plans, and greenhouse gas analyses on buildings, campuses, and building systems. This position serves as a subject matter expert on energy technologies.

Additional responsibilities include performing energy calculations, analysis, and reports; designing HVAC/energy related systems; coordinating with architects and other engineers to determine building’s shell levels and mechanical and electrical system efficiencies (HVAC, lighting, controls); preparation of energy savings plus greenhouse gas reduction calculations, providing guidance and direction to less experienced staff on projects; assisting with business development and fee estimate development; and project and financial management.

The successful candidate will consistently strive to improve technical quality of projects and keep abreast of new technologies, changes in building codes, and advances in the industry. This position requires production of quality work and performance of quality reviews of other’s work.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical preferred) and 10+ years of experience in mechanical/electrical/energy system design and analysis required. PE and LEED strongly preferred. Field experience is highly desired. Must be able to understand engineering systems and architectural energy concerns related to energy efficiency and be able to work in and understand programs such as eQuest (DOE2), Revit/IES, and spreadsheet software. Demonstrated record of thorough coordination and consistent quality of work is essential. Must be able to provide direction and mentorship to less experienced staff.
