Position Description and Board Expectations:
Since 1886, the Northern Middlesex YMCA has responded to the changing needs of the community. The YMCA accepts the challenge to build its capacity to ensure the future of our mission and to respond to emerging needs.
The next leader of the Northern Middlesex YMCA must be able to lead a high performing staff team by ensuring that staff development and performance leads to superior outcomes in community engagement, philanthropy, quality programs, and member satisfaction. The CEO is expected to be highly visible in the community, ensuring that the Y remain a highly respected and desired partner with a strong stake in identifying and addressing the solutions for community issues.
The new CEO will provide leadership to develop a bold Vision and Strategic Plan, align the day-to-day work of the Association to the accomplishment of the Vision, and lead the organization, its staff, volunteer board and members in promoting the Y brand and community image while expanding programs and services to address community needs.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to create positive and strategic relationships with influential leaders and members of the community and an ability to leverage those relationships to enhance support for the Y mission and capital campaign. The Y's success and future growth is reliant on productive partnerships with not for profit organizations, charities, the public and corporate sector. Therefore, candidates will be evaluated on their prior experience and accomplishments in these areas.
The CEO is expected to be the face of the organization, able to develop and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, upholding the highest standards and values of the Y; able to maintain a culture of integrity, high ethical standards, accountability and performance, creating a spirit of inclusiveness, mission and cause that reinforces, encourages, and promotes values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.
Candidates must demonstrate their ability to identify the competencies and expertise required by the organization and attracts the talent needed to achieve the organization's goals. This individual will ensure that staff performance and development leads to superior outcomes in programs, member satisfaction and community engagement.

Minimum Criteria for Candidates:
Accredited 4-year college degree.
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.
Must have the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
Have the ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.

Preferred Criteria for Candidates:
YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (external candidates will have three years to complete certification requirements).
Fiscally sound business management approach.
Strategic planning and Fundraising experience including annual campaigns and the securing of grants.
A proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management in excess of $3M or more annually.

Salary: $145,000 - $175,000
Additional Compensation Details: Retirement contribution, vacation plan, health plan and other benefits per personnel policy included.
