This position is responsible for leading the valet attendants during the shift, ensuring that the entire port cochere area is clean and well maintained at all times; and for ensuring that the first and last guest contact experience is a positive one, with the goal of making guests feel welcome and assured that all details will be attended to.

Responsibilities:
Leads the valet parking operations for the shift, ensuring the entire port cochere area is clean and well maintained at all times;

Welcomes all guests arriving at the Hotel port cochere by opening their car doors and/or escorting/directing them to their destination;

Oversees the flag pole and handicap elevator area by ensuring area, equipment, and flags are well-maintained;

Trains new valet attendants

Responsible for implementing the quality standards pertaining to safety and customer service as well as following the standards on proper grooming procedure, attendance, proper handling of guests’ belongings;

Coaches, counsels, and directs the work of the employees on the shift;

Coordinates with the other areas of the hotel that affect the door/valet parking operations, e.g. Front Desk, Banquets, and Food and Beverage;

Responds to and resolves guest complaints and issues;

Responds to emergency situations and notifies security as appropriate;

Conducts pre-shift meetings to discuss safety, standards, corporate initiatives, and daily activities;

Assists parking supervisor with staffing schedules and monitors activities on a daily basis making sure that the port cochere is always appropriately staffed;

Ensures security of guest car keys by making sure all keys are labeled and placed correctly;

Makes sure all valet attendants and staff members involved in the handling of guest cars carefully check for and record car damage, and inform the guest if any damage occurs;

Maintains a safe, respectful work environment for self and others

Qualifications

High School Diploma

1-3 Years of Customer Service Experience

Prior Doorman or Valet experience preferred

Strong Interpersonal Relationship Skills

Customer service focus – for both internal and external customers

Valid Driver’s License

Knowledge of hotel facility, services and resources, quality standards, safety programs

Knowledge of the different offerings of the hotel and the hours of operations

Knowledge and familiarity of the area, directions for restaurants and other places

Knowledge of hotel and corporate policies and procedures

Strong communications skills (listening, oral and written)

Strong organizational skills

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate team to meet goals and objectives

Demonstrated ability to act with a sense of urgency

Other Information

Requires standing on feef for long periods

Requires flexibility on work schedule due to 24-hour operation

Requires working nights, weekends and holidays

Requires ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Some bending, pushing and pulling is required

Requires ability to adapt to changing temperature and weather conditions
