The Desktop Engineer is responsible for the design, management and support of moderate to complex support and operating systems with general supervision. Areas of management and support may include but are not limited to, core operating systems; such as Macintosh and Windows, software distribution and anti-virus solutions. Engineer will serve as level three desktop supports for complex end user device management.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in related technical area or technical training/experience equivalent required
Two to five years experience working in field services or desktop engineering required
Good understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts required.
MCA or MCSE certification by accredited facility preferred.
Experience with a help tracking system preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with emphasis on detail and follow-through required.
Independent problem-solver. Sorts through issues and conducts comparative analysis of multiple solutions.
Excellent decision making and problem solving skills, demonstrating initiative in the resolution of problems is required.
In-depth understanding of client server environment and topologies.
Comprehensive experience in analyzing complex functions, procedures and problems to find creative, logical and appropriate solutions.
Effective time management skills, with the ability to complete projects and daily responsibilities both timely and effectively.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers, peers and managers.
Ability to effectively deliver services in a high volume environment.
Ability to effectively lead project efforts in a manner consistent with standard PMO practices.
24 x 7 x 365 support requirements. Available to work after hours and weekends, as required.

Assists Senior Administrator with disaster recovery, high availability, volume and data administration, performance and tuning, and new technology.
Skilled and experienced with any or all of the following hardware: Sun, IBM, Compaq Tandem, Compaq Alpha or Wintel-based solutions.
Experience with a variety of Operating Systems (e.g., skilled and experienced with any or all of the following operating systems: Solaris, AIX, Guardian, Digital UNIX, Novell, Microsoft NT/2000/2003).
Experience writing and understanding complex scripts in many administrative languages (Korn, Bourne, C shell, Perl, Sed, Awk, etc).
Skilled in problem analysis. Pays very close attention to detail. Able to solve problems completely required..
Able to work in a team environment or independently required.
Able to organize and delegate tasks, coordinate efforts/projects, and willing to advise others.
Experienced in project management and workplan development and implementation preferred.

Technical Abilities

Macintosh support experience preferred.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and policy management within a directory services system is required.
Extensive knowledge of PC operating systems and registry management required.
Comprehensive knowledge of Macintosh operating systems and integrated applications strongly preferred.
Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of PC hardware, software, operating systems, directory services, printing and applications.
Good working knowledge In-depth understanding of networking topology and wireless infrastructure components required.
Experience with wireless device management preferred.Comprehensive understanding of device integration for peripherals which includes but not limited to wireless handheld devices and tablets.

Experience with software distribution systems required.
Experience with Anti-virus management consoles and troubleshooting required.
Experience with Anti-spyware solution preferred.
Dedicated to exceeding quality standards and providing products and services of the highest caliber.
Experience in hardware and software design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting required
Effective oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Experience in Health Care helpful.
