Involvement in communication related activities Specific Job Description As a part of the Public Information & Communication (PIC) team, responsible for identifying and developing public information and communications products for inclusion in the Program Web site, providing PIC technical assistance to state and local planners, working with state and local planners to incorporate PIC activities in regional, state and local exercises, facilitating interaction between state and local PIC planners and members ofthe media, and developing guidance to assist state and local planners develop their PIC plans. Specific tasks include: Serve as audiovisual project officer acting as both project manager and assistant production supervisor with responsibility for management and supervision of quarterly CDC Public Health Training Network satellite broadcasts/web casts and periodic revisions of the SNS Program Video for State and Local Planners. Using creative and artistic skills, direct various duties related to the production of videotaped and live television programs, including the workflow of camera operators, actors, editors, narrators, set designers, audio and lighting technicians, audiovisual tasks divided into three distinct phases-activation/contracting phase, scripting phase, and production/post production phase. Assist SNS Program consultants with public information and communication efforts in the event SNS assets are deployed in an actual bioterrorism event or natural disaster.
Provide technical assistance for PIC activities for state and local planners. Respond to inquiries from state and local PIC planners. Function as a team member and work independently as needed. Involvement in other tasks in support ofthe PIC Team activities.
Involvement in the Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI) public information training, planning and technical assistance. Standard Job Description Provides expertise in basic emergency management, contingency planning, and continuity of operation engagements. Accountable for understanding and applying local, state and federal Emergency Preparedness rules, regulations and activities, tracking and the evaluation of all regulatory requirements relating to Emergency Preparedness including; exercises, drills, inspections and training, assist in the establishment, documentation and evaluation of emergency response exercises and Emergency Operations Center activation drills. Has a basic knowledge of emergency preparedness procedures, policies, and directives associated with the federal continuity of operations, business continuity planning, and continuity of government and enduring constitutional government programs.
Develops, analyzes, and evaluates basic existing or proposed emergency plans or procedures. Has a basic knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, guidelines issued by DHS, FEMA, EPA, OSHA and directives such as Homeland Security Presidential Directives (HSPDs) related to emergency preparedness, infrastructure protection and physical security at a level sufficient to manage the area-wide implementation of emergency preparedness policies, programs, and procedures. Security Clearance Secret Typical Minimums Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 10 years of professional experience; or 8 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority.
