Serves under supervision for a specified period within the occupation and skill area that directly relates to their college engineering degree.

Assist engineers in researching, developing, analyzing, designing, and testing company products using engineering and scientific principles. Translates engineering and scientific concepts from preliminary ideas through product life cycle. Analyzes and verifies product design and performance for adequacy, including reliability. Researches and develops material and processes that support the translation from abstract concepts to functional products. Applies knowledge of engineering and scientific methods and tools to define and characterize behavior of products, services, and processes. Integrates technical, cost, value, and safety considerations into the product definition to comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements; documents results in drawings, data sets, reports, specifications, and supporting data. Interfaces with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization, and company objectives.

The successful Research & Development Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) intern would be pursuing a technical degree, ideally in physics, electronics, or NDE, but mechanical or aerospace degree is also appropriate. The intern would assist engineers gather and analyze technical data for engineering and scientific research, design, development, test, evaluation, implementation, and support of products, services, and processes. Applies specialized knowledge and judgment with prescribed methods and develops and maintains various analytical tools in order to understand behavior of products, services, and processes. Compares product capabilities and performance to requirements. Documents findings in reports and data, such as specifications, drawings, manuals, test procedures, and standards. Interfaces with management, engineers and scientists, process owners, team members, marketing and sales, customers, and suppliers to provide schedule and project status, and ensure that requirements for analytical data are fulfilled.
