Denver Water is seeking a Chief of Construction Management to plan, organize, supervise and direct the work of a staff of construction project managers, construction project inspectors, a materials laboratory, and specialists and technicians which may include interdivisional project teams.
The Chief of Construction Management under general direction of the Director of Engineering is responsible for program management of the Capital Improvement Plan construction contracting including planning, directing, and administering construction contracts. Responsible for program management activities for construction projects bid by Engineering. The Chief of Construction Management will direct work on complex projects, exercising technical control and quality control of multi-disciplinary work and/or administrative control of major projects and assigned personnel. Managing multi-functional specialty areas as assigned and evaluate the progress of the staff and results obtained; and oversee, negotiate and administer professional services contracts for construction administration and inspection services. The Chief of Construction Management is responsible for contracting budgets and monitoring throughout the project until completion. Provides construction management support in the administration of professional services contracts, change orders, amendments and contract awards. Provides construction contract documents creation, maintenance and review for design-bid-build and alternative delivery methods.
Requires graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in engineering. Also requires knowledge of the engineering field equivalent to that obtained through an advanced degree program. Master’s degree in Engineering or related field a plus. Eight years’ increasingly responsible and significant experience in the design, engineering and construction of water works facilities, Management and supervisory construction management experience a plus. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado. A Program Management Professional Certification, or a Project Management Professional Certification, from the Project Management Institute, or a Certified Construction Manager Certification, from the Construction Manager Certification Institute, is required within one year of appointment.
